Still looking

Creativity has taken a back seat to just getting by.

I was doing more with photography and was exploring some musical outlets when Dulce started behaving oddly. He was hiding, then began compulsively chasing his tail and grooming himself. So, for awhile, I had to try to correct that behavior. I calmed him down, but he’s still doing the tail-chasing thing. At least it’s manageable.

Then work got crazy and large swaths of time were taken by my bike training.

Now that is over, but work is still super-busy. I hope to get back to updating this site regularly, though. I’ve kind of been in a funk without some sort of creative outlet.

More off-camera flash experiments! This one was taken with the flash off to Dulce’s left, about two feet lower than his face, pointed directly at him.

Buckle lighting experiments

More off-camera flash experiments.

This was shot with the flash even with the camera, about 12 inches higher than the subject, lit at 45-degree angle, pointed at the subject, with the stock diffuser cap.

Same setup, except that the flash is bounced off the ceiling. I think I prefer the first shot, but both have their good points and bad points.

The end of one challenge, the beginning of another

It’s been a while since I wrote a haiku for this site. I have to admit, I kind of ran out of steam once I hit my goal of doing 1/day for 365 days. I am searching for a new creative outlet/challenge. I’d hoped to do a photography challenge, like the 52-week challenge (one post-worthy photo per week) or something more ambitious, like writing and recording a song per week or month. Neither of these seem to be lighting a fire under my, uh, neither seem to be motivating me. I’ll find something, though. I think my sanity depends on it.
